The idea for this ink illustration was the idea of dark liquid floating away in zero gravity. I had the idea that this character would have lost her arms or never had any and inky fluid floats out constantly from where her arms would be. Originally I had another idea that her eyes would be the only light source. But I changed that since I had just finished the Skull Light illustration and its theme was too similar to that idea.
Her ‘horns’ came about as I felt the need for a texture contrast from the inky liquid. And the long neck allowed me to continue the floating liquid up further without it dominating the overall look of the character.
So those are my thoughts behind it. Had a lot of fun working on a new type of ink drawing for this series.
